Master the new MS-DRG codes changes as well as the New Technology Add-On Payment (NTAP) updates for 2020.

The Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) proposed rule for fiscal year 2020 had many changes for the Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups (MS-DRGs) methodology. There were more than 20 changes and among those were shifts of procedure codes, deletion of procedure codes, shifting of diagnoses, deleting two MS-DRGs, adding two MS-DRGs, and more. Some of the shifts are from MS-DRGs 981-983 and 987-989 to MS-DRGs where the diagnosis and procedures match. In addition to changes in the methodology, there are some changes to CC/MCC designations. How these changes could impact the MS-DRG assignments at your facility financially has the potential to be a serious issue.

This year, New Technology Add-On Payment (NTAP) requests were at an all-time high. Which of the new technologies were approved for FY20? This webcast will review all approved and discontinued NTAP designations. You can determine which new technologies are utilized at your facility. It is important for you to be educated regarding how to utilize new technology as well as understand what documentation supports its usage.
