IPPS Final Rule: Expect Change to Physician Inpatient Order Requirements

AUGUST 16, 12.30 PM ET

Presented By Ronald Hirsch, MD

The 2019 IPPS Final Rule is expected to be released in early August from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). And with the release of the final rule, you need to be prepared for significant changes to the inpatient admission order requirements.

In this exclusive RACmonitor webcast, Dr. Ronald Hirsch will do a deep dive into the final rule and provide clear guidance on how you should implement the new guidelines. He will also cover any other issues within the rule pertinent to case management, utilization review, and denials and appeals staff.

Learning Objectives:
During this essential webcast, Dr. Hirsch will…

  • Interpret the new guidance from CMS on inpatient admission orders;
  • Provide examples of compliant and non-compliant inpatient admissions;
  • Review other IPPS regulations pertinent to case managers, utilization review staff, and compliance professionals; and
  • Analyze the significant changes in the proposed 2019 OPPS Rule and implications of those new proposals.

2019 ICD-10-PCS/CM Workshop 2: Take Control of ICD-10-PCS Changes

AUGUST 22, 12.30 PM ET | Pending CEUs for (0.5) AAPC and (0.5) AHIMA

Presented By Pamela Scott

What if you could master the troublesome ICD-10-PCS codes and become PCS proficient before the new codes become effective on October 1, 2018? Imagine the career satisfaction in knowing that your knowledge of the PCS codes has taken your coding skills to a whole new level of proficiency. Welcome to this exclusive ICD10monitor webcast on the 2019 ICD-10-PCS code set. You will learn all about the PCS code additions, deletions, and revisions —information that you'll need for accurate coding for reimbursement, compliance, and quality metrics. You will also learn about the reduced number of invalid code assignment denials, how the new codes for major vessels will allow for "bypass" of the aorta and abdominal vessels to lesser arteries, and about "device" values, including autologous or non-autologous, arterial or venous and synthetic materials used to achieve the bypass.

Although the number of ICD-10-PCS codes is 78,881, there's only one opportunity to bolster your coding self-confidence and that's when you master this new code set.

Learning Objectives:
During this webcast you will come away with a feeling of empowerment that will transform your career as a professional coder. You will also learn…

  • Important details about the new ICD-10-PCS codes;
  • How to identify the new "bypass" codes for multiple vessels;
  • Potential areas of physician documentation improvement to capture the new PCS codes; and,
  • The new "approach" values for "control" of bleeding of nasal mucosa.

2019 ICD-10-PCS/CM Workshop 3: Stay Focused on MS-DRG Shifts

AUGUST 23, 12.30 PM ET | Pending CEUs for (1) AAPC and (1) AHIMA

Presented By Pamela Scott

Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups (MS-DRGs) methodology will change, as it always does. But this time you'll need to understand how these changes will impact your facility's reimbursement. The benefit of this presentation is that it will prepare you for potential Case Mix Index (CMI) changes that may affect reimbursement, compliance, and quality metrics for your facility beginning October 1, 2018.

You'll learn about the FY 2019 MS-DRG revisions due to code changes or to resolve current errors in the Version 35 Grouper. You'll come to understand the rationale for the proposed changes, and the final rule's acceptance/rejection of the proposed change. Most importantly, you learn how the resultant MS-DRG weight impacts of the revisions will allow you to prepare for CMI adjustments. Knowing all this important MS-DRG information will add to your stature as an accomplished coder.

Learning Objectives:
During this webcast you will come away with a feeling of empowerment that will transform your career as a professional coder. You will also learn…

  • How to identify the process in which MS-DRG requests are considered and decided;
  • How to recognize the Case Mix Index impact of these revisions; and,
  • The rationale for the decisions to revise or not revise requested MS-DRGs

2019 Medicare Payments Final Rules: New Fed Focus to Reduce Provider Burdens

AUGUST 29, 12.30 PM ET

Presented By Stanley Nachimson

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) have changed the priorities for all type of providers and their electronic health records (EHRs). The key goals now are "interoperability," "meaningful quality measures," and "patients over paperwork." CMS has revised its 2019 payment incentive and quality programs to emphasize these goals. And you must now shift behaviors, care pathways, and your EHR use to meet those goals. New proposed regulations specify these changes. This webcast will provide the details on how these new programs will impact providers, their EHRs, and revenue.

Learning Objectives:
From this important webcast conducted by Stanley Nachimson, you will learn…

  • Learn about the new CMS and ONC priorities for payments, quality, and EHRs;
  • About the new proposed rules for each provider type (hospitals, LTC, home health, physician, etc.);
  • How certain programs and measures are being changed;
  • Know what changes you must make in your organization to react to these; and,
  • What your EHR vendor must do to help you comply with these new regulations.
